Ever since we did the church gigs in Malmö and Stockholm I’ve been longing to enter a church with my devilish guitar again.
Luckily the nice people at Emmabodafestivalen decided to start this years edition of the festival in a profound way. Today at eight I enter Emmaboda kyrka together with my new string players and lovely Lars at the piano. Wihoo. See you there.
I’m on a train to Gothenburg. Tomorrow, Saturday 25 July, I’m guesting the radio show Morgonpasset Helg in SR P3. I’m looking forward to talk about ice cream and Jonathan Richman with Soraya Hashim and Navid Modiri. There will also be a possibility to challenge me…
Set the alarm tomorrow at 8.05 and wake up with me for 3 long hours. See you in the radio waves.
Our favourite reporter on what’s up and down in the music business, and great source of inspiration, Techdirt is doing an experiment to try out some of their ideas on their own site. We where honoured when Mike Masnick, the founder, mentioned Moto Boy in his great speech on why artist should Connect with fans and give them a Reason to buy.
Simply put, it’s our formula for a sustainable business model for the music industry (or any business with an infinite good, for that matter):
Connect with Fans (CwF) and give them a Reason to Buy (RtB). CwF+RtB=$$$
Techdirt come up with 14 reasons to buy for their readers. A signed Moto Boy ep and a music box is in their “Music Club” choice together with Jill Sobule, Amanda Parker and Joe Pug.
We regularly use the music industry as a great example of a “leading indicator” industry that is dealing with the issues we talk about way before many other industries will do so. And while it was painful for some in the industry for many years, we’re seeing more and more artists breakthrough by embracing new business model opportunities and finding tremendous success in doing so.
Do you have any ideas for similar stuff for future Moto Boy releases? Please submit them in the comments or send us an email.
