Don’t Release Me From Your Spell

Lyrics

It's been what, a month or two
since I first laid eyes on you
did you put me under a spell that night
yeah I think so cause now I'm bound to you

The curvings of your collarbone
painted white and carved in stone
silky dunes for me to roam forever
and forever I am lost in you

Don't release me from your spell

Through the smoke of cigarettes
I see a misty eyed coquette
I've seen those eyes before
I'm sure of it
in my dreams, my sleep, my idle hours

A killer moon is high tonight
and I'll be sleeping with the fishes
if I can't sleep there next to you
I am bound to you
I am bound to you

Don't release me from your spell

My thoughts

This is a real rough take, I like that, meant only to be a demo at first but it was so subtly perfect and lovely rough on the edges I just had to keep it that way. You can hear motorbikes beeping outside the window, and people moving about in the room.

  • The mood breaking into "A killer moon is out tonight, and I'll be sleeping with the fishes" is haunting. It makes me want to cry, it's so pretty.

Everything, the voice, the guitar, the simplicity conjures up nothing but the purest aches of love. From the moment I heard "It's been what, a month or two..." I thought of how quickly I fell for my boyfriend. Just a month or two and we knew. For days I played it again and again, I just.... found it mesmerizing. Artlessly bewitching.

Thanks for putting love back into love songs.
